Jane Le Poidevin

Director of Curriculum

What I do at MidKent College

Hi - I'm Jane. I’m a Curriculum Director here at MidKent College, I joined in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic which made it quite interesting to meet my team via Zoom!  I’m currently responsible for Construction & Engineering from level 1 students right through to Level 6 Degree programmes.

Why MidKent College

I would say my default leadership style is a “servant leader” as I like to support my team to have everything they need – such as a clear vision, a common purpose, resources, training, support, mentorship etc as if they are doing a good job then I’m doing a good job!

In my free time, I’m a keen horse rider and love to spend time in the great outdoors – this is the only time when I’m truly mindful!

Who am I?

I have worked in education and training for the past 20+ years.  I started my career teaching IT to adults and loved to see how they progressed and gained confidence in their skills.  I spent 5 years working for an innovative technology company as their Training Manager, travelling all over the world delivering courses on our hardware and software – a really exciting and fast-paced role giving me opportunities to visit countries and experience cultures I never would have been exposed to.

I moved into the FE sector in 2005 as a sessional lecturer, like a lot of us start!  Working in FE is such a fulfilling experience as I can see first hand the positive impact we have on people’s lives.
